Wine Mistress

Welcome to my blog.
I am the Wine Mistress.
I have been a lover of wine my entire adult life.
To me, wine is life (someone else said that but I completely agree!) I love wine and all things related to wine: I love to look at it, smell it, taste it. I certainly love to talk about it! I love cooking and matching foods to wine. I love sharing wine and meals with people I care about. I love travelling to places where wine is grown and made. I love to listen to others talk to me about wine. What I love most of all is telling people about a wine, pouring it for them, and watching them have the experience of it. Then we are suddenly sharing that experience and it is so satisfying to me. It boils down to enjoying life to the fullest, slowing down and savouring all that is delicious and warm and heady. If this sounds sensual to you, it is: you are engaging your senses of sight, smell and taste. And it's obviously got alcohol in it so you feel it inside you too - your limbs, your head.
In the past few years I have pursued an education in wine to match my enthusiasm (or legitimize my drinking!) I learned that the highest level I could achieve (and it's very high, only a few hundred around the world) is MW or Master of Wine. I decided that title sounded sexist and preferred to be a Mistress of Wine - hence my handle/alter ego, The Wine Mistress.
There are many people who enjoy wine but do not enjoy the process of buying it in a store or ordering it in a restaurant. Labels can be hard to understand, names difficult to decipher, and staff or servers may be less than helpful. It can be quite intimidating and many resort to grabbing the old stand-by off the shelf, or choosing a price they can afford and pointing at it on the list.
I sincerely believe that sharing my knowledge and passion with others will lessen or eliminate that stress and intimidation.
That's what I can do for you in the comfort and privacy of your home or office (what could be less intimidating than your own turf?) I can provide a customized, guided experience for you, your family, friends, colleagues.
That's also what I'm going to do here: I will regularly write about a wine-related subject that interests me (and you too I hope!)
Enjoy...
